All That Matters is excited to host a 300-hour, year-long yoga teacher training program designed to weave the ancient teachings into modern life. As a student and teacher of yoga, you’ve gotten a taste of the sublime wisdom that comes from the ancient texts of yoga philosophy. Perhaps you want more, and you’d like your students to savor its sweetness as well. But how do you do that in classes where things move so quickly, leaving little time for explanations? How do you, as a teacher, connect the multiple facets of these wisdom jewels to everyday living, and then weave them into practices on the mat to support living wisely, skillfully, and joyfully? You begin by investigating, experiencing, feeling, embodying, and living the wisdom within these teachings yourself. Whether you explore a sacred text, vibrate with mantra, or stand on your head, you practice to support and expand your awareness and your connection to all that is. And then you impart what you have embodied to your students. Yoga Beyond Asana, a 300-hour YTT led by three of our senior teachers (Linda Sparrowe, Jenn Thomas, and Usha Bilotta), is designed to help you do just that. allthatmatters.com/workshops
How do we bring intention and conscious awareness to our everyday actions? In the Yoga Sutra, Patanjali helps us chart a path to do just that. He asks us to begin with our actions in the world—how we get along with others and how we show up for ourselves—implores us to take care of our bodies so that we stay healthy, flexible, and strong; shows us how to quiet the mind so we don’t make ourselves crazy; and encourages us to open our hearts and give up the fruits of our actions to benefit all living beings.
• Move from the world around us (macrocosm) to the world within us (microcosm)
• Create intention and awareness on and off the mat
• Apply the eight limbs to asana/meditation practice and in daily life
• Develop the courage to open the heart in the space of all conditions
• Use practice and self-inquiry to discover what a life of service means for you
Meet one weekend per month for three months and check in online once a month. The home practice, outside reading, journaling and partner/buddy requirements will help sustain connection to the work and to our sangha. Take this in-depth investigation into the fullness of yoga as a map for your life and expand into the underlying happiness of your essential being. EMBODYING THE TEACHINGS
Yoga is a body-based meditation practice, one that allows us to experience the ancient teachings in every part of our being—including our muscles and bones, breath, mind and heart. It gives us an opportunity to be still and listen deeply and it also invites us to move, stretch, strengthen and enjoy our physicality. As vinyasa teachers, we want to introduce and expand upon the concepts found in the Yoga Sutra, the Bhagavad Gita, and other seminal texts. But how can we do that in classes that move quickly—arising, abiding, and dissolving with every inhale and exhale, leaving us little time for explanations?
In this all-day workshop, we’ll explore several ways of weaving narrative and pose instructions together to help students (and ourselves) embody the wisdom and understand it on a deep, visceral level. Through asana practice, discussion, journaling, and an asana lab, you’ll learn how to:
• Create a home practice for yourself, one that will enhance your connection to yourself and your understanding of the teachings
• Unpack some of your favorite themes, learn new ones, and explore how to incorporate them into a class structure
- Hone the ability to show up for ALL students, no matter where they are in their journey, bringing this powerful practice to those who need it most.
YOGA IS NOW: How to Embody the Teachings and Live Life on Purpose
Clearly, yoga is more than asana; more than just the time we spend on our mat or our cushion. Yoga is about living life on purpose and with purpose; investigating all aspects of your life, not as abstract ideas, but as felt experiences. Yoga is NOW—in the middle of your crazy, mixed-up life—when everything is splendid and when nothing makes sense. Yoga invites you to enter into a loving relationship with all that you are—your joys, sorrows, traumas and history—so that you may be better able to share your gifts with the world.
In our 90 minutes together, come hear my rather unique take on the yamas and niyamas (and some of my other favorite Sutras). And then, let’s discuss how they can teach us to listen more deeply, connect more authentically, and serve others more reverently and on purpose.
