Costa Rica Retreat FAQ

How do I get from the airport to Finca?

Group transportation to and from the San Jose airport is included in the cost of the retreat. In order to take advantage of this service, your flight must arrive by 2:00 PM on March 30th and depart after 12:45 on April 6th. If your incoming flight is delayed—or you choose to make any other arrangements—you’ll need to secure your own transportation to (or from) Finca Luna Nueva. Taxis out to Finca are approximately $150.

What meals are included in the retreat cost?

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included every day. Beautifully prepared, much of the organic fare is grown right on the farm and always served with loving care.

What options will be there be if I have specific dietary needs?

There will be vegetarian options at each meal. If you have any other needs (e.g., vegan, dairy- or gluten-free) please let us know in advance so we can alert the kitchen.

What is a typical day like during the retreat?

We start the day with meditation and an active all-levels yoga class, followed by breakfast. We hold noble silence from the time we rise until we finish breakfast in order to deepen our mindful connection with every aspect of our experience. After breakfast, you’ll have plenty of free time to hike, swim, read, book a massage, or arrange an excursion on your own. A farm tour, a hot springs adventure and a surprise excursion are included in the retreat cost. Late afternoon yoga will focus on quieter practices such as Yin, Restorative or pranayama, followed by dinner and either free time or a group excursion.

Do I need to attend all of the yoga classes?

We do encourage you to attend all the yoga classes. Designed to enrich your experience of the land and create a strong, supportive community, the classes follow a progression from the beginning of the week to the end.

What if I have done very little yoga or have an injury or health condition?

Our classes accommodate all levels—and we really mean that! We’ve also welcomed students with a variety of physical challenges. If you have an injury or health condition, we suggest you email one of us to discuss the particulars. That way you can decide if the retreat is right for you.

I would like to share a room, but am coming alone. Is this possible?

If you would like us to pair you with a roommate, let us know and we will do our best. If we are not able to pair you with a roommate, let us know if you’d be willing to take a single.

What should I pack?

A suggested packing list will be sent to you approximately one month before the retreat.
